Gulf Shores police do not plan to charge a mother accused of leaving her 3 month old baby in a car while she went inside a store Thursday.

The Department of Human Resources reviewed the case and determined the mother accidently left the infant in the car while she went inside Target on Highway 59 in Gulf Shores," according to Detective Tim Knight of the Gulf Shores Police Department.

The baby was discovered by someone walking into the store. Details of how the infant was rescued are still unclear, but Deputy Chief Keith Martin of Gulf Shores Fire Rescue says an unidentified shopper called 911.

Martin says paramedics who were on the scene were told the baby was initially unresponsive, but by the time the infant was transported to the hospital the baby was responding normally.

The name of the mother is not being released.
