A sheriff's deputy in desperate need of a kidney donor is hoping the community can help.
Johnnie Briggs has been with the Oklaloosa County Sheriff's office for over 20 years.

He was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease in 1998. Since then the 45 year old deputy says his kidney function has dropped to 10 percent.
Briggs started dialysis a month ago."My goal is to get transplanted successfully and be able to continue working, that's what I want to do,"Said Briggs.

His girlfriend hopes by sharing their story someone will come forward with a match.
"Even if someone doesn't want to be a living donor if they have a loved one that passes away...maybe they can say hey I heard about the deputy in Okaloosa County that needs a kidney,"Said Kim Thompson.

Deputy Briggs is on a kidney transplant waiting list through Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. He says he is willing to cover all cost for a potential donor.
If you can help call Kim Thompson at 850-218-8818 or you can send an email to kidneyforjohnnie@yahoo.com.
