GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A convicted bank robber is scheduled to
stand trial March 16 on charges of holding up six Mississippi banks
and attempted robbery of another.
Gary Clayton Walker pleaded not guilty Wednesday on a
seven-count indictment before U.S. Magistrate Judge John M. Roper.
The indictment alleges the 49-year-old Walker robbed banks in
Biloxi, Gautier, Pascagoula, Laurel and Meridian between March 6
and June 20 in 2008. He allegedly held up a Meridian bank twice and
tried to rob a Pascagoula bank a second time.
Walker had pleaded guilty in October to robbing two banks in
Mobile. He was sentenced in January to five years in prison.
If convicted, Walker faces maximum penalties of 140 years behind
bars and $1.75 million in fines.
