GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Former police officer Edward Scott Yancey will be tried April 6 in federal court in Mississippi on a firearms charge.
If convicted, the former volunteer coach for the Long Beach Recreation League faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Yancey pleaded not guilty Wednesday in federal court in Gulfport.
The 37-year-old Yancey was a police officer in Gulf Shores, Ala., before he was convicted in 1998 on a federal child pornography charge. He was sentenced to three years' probation.
Last November, Yancey was arrested by Long Beach, Miss., police
on allegations that he molested a 10-year-old boy. Prosecutors say
during that investigation, Yancey was found to be allegedly in
possession of a firearm.
