Bonner Disappointed That The Stimulus Bill Passed

U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner voted against the $819 billion economic stimulus package. “While President Obama extended an olive branch, sadly, the House Democratic leadership used a baseball bat to get votes.”

“I am extremely disappointed that Speaker Pelosi and the House Democratic leaders failed to follow the leadership of President Obama and work to get a bipartisan consensus in Congress to support the stimulus.

“Many Republicans would have supported something more targeted at creating jobs and not so filled with the lard and backlog of big government programs and wasteful spending.

“While President Obama extended an olive branch, sadly, the House Democratic leadership used a baseball bat to get votes.”

Bonner voted against the bill; however, the legislation passed the House by a vote of 244-188.
