A defense attorney for Lam Luong was not successful in getting his client's taped confession thrown out of court.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Mobile Judge Charles Graddick denied the request. He ruled that the taped statements by the Bayou La Batre Police Department can be used as evidence. Lam Luong is accused of throwing his four children off the Dauphin Island Bridge in January 2007.

In court, the investigator who talked with Luong spoke about the statements. Bayou La Batre Police Captain Darryll Wilson said he asked Luong twice about what he did to the children. Here are those statements:

Capt. Wilson: Did you throw your four children off the Dauphin Island Bridge?
Lam Luong: Yes

Capt. Wilson: You killed your children by throwing them off the bridge?
Lam Luong: Yes

Capt. Wilson: Why?
Lam Luong: Ask my family. They know why.

Search crews looked in the surrounding waters for the children's bodies. It took two weeks to find the bodies of Ryan, Lindsey, Hannah and Danny.
As of right now, the trial is set on March 9 in Downtown Mobile. District Attorney John Tyson says it could take up to a week to seat a jury and a little more than a week to present the case. The state will seek the death penalty against Lam Luong. Tyson told News 5 on Tuesday that 700 subpeonas will be going out on Friday to potential jurors.
