PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - An Indiana financial adviser accused of
trying to fake his death in a plane crash says he's been under
psychiatric care and doesn't recall the events of the day he bailed
out.
That's according to The New York Post, which talked with Marcus Schrenker by phone from a Florida jail.
Schrenker reportedly told the paper he doesn't remember the
events of Jan. 11. That's when authorities say he flew his small
plane from Indiana, put it on autopilot and jumped out over Alabama
after calling emergency officials to say the plane was having
mechanical problems.
The Post quotes Schrenker as saying "I have no memory of any of
it."
He told the newspaper his last memory is of attending his
stepfather's funeral on Jan. 9. He said he'd been receiving
psychiatric care and taking medication for a year.
Schrenker's undergoing mental evaluations in Florida.
