Foley Mom Strangled By Boyfriend With A Jump Rope

Investigators in Foley say a man confessed to killing his girlfriend Tuesday night.

Police say Jontez Holt admitted using a jump rope to strangle Quintessa Pickens. Pickens mother found her body inside her apartment on Juniper Street.

"Jontez Holt was inside and the mother asked the whereabouts of her daughter and he said he didn't know," says Foley Police Chief David Wilson. "This concerned the mother and a little bit later she came in and made forced entry into the apartment and unfortunately, she found her own daughter dead."

"She was a sweet girl," says Conswayla Minor, Pickens' neighbor and friend. "It's just a sad situation for any parent. I can't imagine what her mother is going through."

Pickens had two children.

"It breaks your heart," says Wilson. "It just breaks your heart, it's a parent's nightmare and I just as the public to pray for her."

Holt has been charged with murder. Police searched a broad area from the murder scene east past Elberta looking for evidence they say Holt discarded before he was captured by police in Elberta. Holt will be transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Center.
