Downtown Bank Robbery

The robbery occurred at the Whitney Bank on North Royal Street. Now police need your help in finding the suspect.

On Friday, January 16, 2009, at approximately 4:42 p.m., officers responded to the Whitney Bank located at 50 North Royal Street in reference to a robbery in progress. It was determined that an unknown white male entered the bank and passed one of the tellers a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of currency, the suspect fled the scene on foot and possibly entering a white 1996 Ford Crown Victoria which was last seen heading south on Water Street. The suspect was described as a white male, mid 50’s, heavy-set, approximately 220 pounds, approximately 6’00” to 6’02” in height, wearing glasses, navy blue jacket, blue knit watch-cap, blue jeans and black shoes.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Mobile Police Department at (251) 208-7211. The attached photographs were taken from surveillance cameras at the bank.
