TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa judge is in trouble with the Florida
Judicial Qualifications Commission for allegedly helping an exotic
dancer hide income from creditors that she owed more than $300,000.
An investigative panel says that Judge Thomas E. Stringer Sr., opened bank accounts and listed himself as the sole title holder of a Hawaii home to help Christy Yamanaka conceal her assets.
The panel says Stringer also accepted a trip from Yamanaka to
Las Vegas and other items he didn't disclose as gifts.
His attorney didn't immediately return a telephone message.
The St. Petersburg Times says Stringer has acknowledged being
friends with Yamanaka and said he tried to help her when she ran
into financial trouble. He denied doing anything improper.
