Investigators blocked off the Dauphin Island Bridge on Monday to re-create part of the crime scene that shocked our entire community.

Lam Luong has been charged with capital murder after authorities say he tossed his kids off the Dauphin Island Bridge last January. Authorities believe he took the family van on the day of the crime and wanted to use the same vehicle to re-create part of the scene.

The children's mother still owns the van. Her brother-in-law Kam Phengsisomboun says she wanted to keep it to remember her children. "I said if you want to you can always trade it in or sell it whatever but she says she wants to keep it as a memory."

Kam agreed to drive the van up the same path his brother-in-law reportedly took on the morning of January 7, 2008. Going to the top of the 85-foot bridge was not easy for him. "This is actually the first time being on top of the bridge. It's a scary thought."

The state has a witness that claimed to see someone pull over and drop something in the water on that January morning. Investigators quickly discovered that the bodies of Ryan, Lindsey, Hannah and Danny were dropped from the top.

The bridge was closed for about ten minutes as the investigators snapped pictures of the scene. The pictures will be used in the prosecution's case against Lam Loung. He's set to go to trial in early March.

Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson says it's a stunning experience to stand at the top of the bridge and think about what happened. "As you stand on top of the bridge, you begin to realize just how far down it is to the water. Then, you think about what happened and it takes your breathe away."

As of right now, the trial is set on March 9th in Downtown Mobile. Tyson says it could take up to a week to seat a jury and a little more than a week to present the case. The state will seek the death penalty against Lam Luong.
