No Charges For Dog Abuser

A pit bull with dog fighting wounds has been euthanized, but authorities at the Mobile Animal Shelter say it is unlikley the owner will ever face justice.

Jesse Eldridge discovered the dog huddled in his yard Wednesday afternoon and immediately called the shelter. The dog was severely malnourished and had several bite marks.

Ellen Lursen says the shelter took the animal to a veternarian who believes the dog was likely used as bait in a fighting ring, but without knowing where the dog came from or who owned her, there isn't much officials can do.

"To prosecute we have to have a witness or overriding evidence," says Lursen.
