A Pensacola father was one of eight people killed in a weekend helicopter crash south of New Orleans.
"It's the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with," says Charlie's mother, Karen Nelson. "I will always love him and miss him."
Nelson, a 24-year old electrician, had spent the holidays with his family in West Pensacola and was on his way to an oil rig out in the Gulf of Mexico when the accident happened.
"He was my child," says Karen. "He had a great smile and he was so bubbly."
"One of the best guys I knew," says Charlie's sister, Melissa. "Just hearing all the nice, kind things people have said about him and the family it makes us realize how much he's going to be missed."
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the chopper crash. Charlie Nelson is survived by his five-year old son.
