TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The federal government is paying off a mob
hit man who was accidentally shot by an FBI agent during his
arrest.
Frankie Roche's attorney says he settled a lawsuit filed against
the U.S. government after he was shot during his 2004 arrest in
Tampa.
The lawsuit was dismissed Friday because of the settlement.
Neither Roche's attorney nor the U.S. Attorney's Office would say
how much he is getting.
Court records said the Massachusetts-based Roche pleaded guilty
last year to a federal murder charge. He admits he was paid $10,000
to fatally shoot Adolfo "Big Al" Bruno in 2003. Bruno was the
regional boss of the Genovese crime family.
Roche is cooperating with prosecutors and will be in the witness
protection program.
