LOS ANGELES (AP) - It was a powerful moment at last night's Oscars came when, as expected, Heath Ledger was named best supporting actor for playing The Joker in "The Dark Knight."
Amid a standing ovation, his parents and sister took the stage. Sister Kate Ledger ended their thank-yous by saying: "We really wish you were, but we proudly accept this award on behalf of your beautiful Matilda." Later his sister told reporters she and her family are close with Matilda's mom, Michelle Williams, Heath's former girlfriend.
The Ledgers aren't sure yet where the Oscar will stay for the next 15 years. Matilda, who's now three, can take possession when she's 18.
