According to the Mobile County Health Department, approximately 1,100 gallons of untreated sewage overflowed at 28 Royal Street in downtown Mobile due to a broken lateral. The break has been repaired and officials say the raw sewage flowed into Mobile Bay.

An officer with the Health Department is advising residents to take precautions when using Mobile Bay for recreational purposes. All seafood harvested in the area should be cooked thoroughly and residents should wash their hands after cleaning fish or seafood.
