Suspect In Sexual Encounter Caught

The suspect that accosted a woman earlier this morning is in custody and charged with Burglary, Battery and Lewd/Indecent Exposure. The suspect, Keith William Smith, (44) of Pensacola was arrested at a relative’s home at around noon. Deputy Phillip Martin, who took the initial report, went to a residence in the Fox Run Subdivision off of 9 mile road to follow-up on a tag # that was provided by a witness. Once at the residence, the owner of the vehicle stated that she had not driven the vehicle but that a relative who was staying with her had. Contact was made with Suspect/Smith who matched the physical description given by the victim and witness. The suspect stated he had driven the vehicle but denied the incident. The victim responded to the scene and positively identified the suspect who is presently being booked in the county jail.
