LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A retired bank teller who became known as
the "Granny Robber" for a series of bank robberies in southwest
Ohio has been sentenced to six years in prison on top of an earlier
three-year sentence.
Barbara Joly (JAH'-lee) of Middletown was sentenced Wednesday in
Warren County Common Pleas Court for robbing three banks in that
county.
The 68-year-old was sentenced earlier this month in neighboring
Butler County after pleading guilty to one bank robbery there. The
sentences will run consecutively.
Authorities say Joly left notes demanding money and warning the
teller that an accomplice had a gun.
Joly's lawyer has said the robberies were an attempt to support
a grown son who had fallen on hard times.
