TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A University of South Florida dean in trouble
for helping steal a $100 bike is expected to resign.
Abdul Rao, a senior associate vice president for research, plans
to leave his post Friday.
Rao said he was trying to help a semi-homeless man when he was
caught on surveillance tape driving to loading docks where the bike
was parked and exiting after the man loaded it.
The footage was subsequently broadcast and widely viewed on
YouTube.
Rao has called his actions a lapse of judgment.
The incident was investigated by USF police, and the
Hillsborough State Attorney's Office will determine whether or not
to file charges.
