The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has a new story for the Dumbest Criminals file.

The burglar alarm at Beer City (3700 W. Fairfield Dr) in Pensacola went off around midnight. When deputies arrived, they say Robert Pittman ran out the front door holding packs of cigarettes.

But he didn't get very far. Deputies say Pittman had to keep stopping to pull up his pants. He also kept dropping cigarettes along the way.

When deputies ordered Pittman to the ground, cigarettes were scattered all around him and his pants were down around his ankles. Pittman told deputies "You caught me red handed.”

Pittman was charged with criminal mischief (damage to the door), burglary, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $12,000.
