Converter Coupons Still Scarce

Converter Coupons Still Scarce

If you have a coupon for a digital converter box, you better use it before it expires. You won't get another one.

NEW YORK (AP) - If you're counting on those government coupons to help ease your financial transition from analog to digital TV, you may have a tough choice: foot the bill for converter boxes yourself or go without a TV signal until the coupons arrive in your mailbox.

The fund that pays for the subsidy coupons has reached its limit. And while coupons are still going out as older ones expire, there is still a wait list of 4 million coupons. So if you need a converter box and have no coupon in hand, you'll either have to wait out the federal government or break down and pay the full
freight for the converter yourself.

And as for those who have coupons, don't delay. They expire in 90 days and once you get yours, you can't get more, even if it goes unused.
