NAACP Considers Civil Rights Claim In Teen's Death

LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - Pursuing allegations of a criminal civil
rights violation or filing a civil lawsuit are two options the
Mississippi NAACP will consider in the shooting death of a high
school football star.
A grand jury concluded that Billey Joe Johnson Jr. accidentally
caused his own death by grabbing the barrel of a hunting gun after
a George County deputy sheriff stop him for a traffic violation in
Dec. 8.
The NAACP says it will discuss further action with Johnson's
family, claiming the organization has additional evidence.
Johnson's father has refused to discuss what the next step might
be. But he says he's not happy with the results of the
investigation.
