RBC customers wake up to a Friday the 13th nightmare!

Melissa Creighton had to tell her husband some bad news Friday morning.

"Dont use the debit card," says Creighton, as she talked to husband on the phone. "Evidently, RBC has had a glitch because I already took my tail up there madder then Hell. I went online to check on your paycheck and it says that we are negative 35-thousand dollars!"

Creighton's RBC bank account was overdrawn. Not by just a few pennies but by tens of thousands of dollars! A computer glitch sent bank customers across the South scrambling for answers and trying to figure out why they couldn't use their bank cards to pay for breakfast or fill up their gas tanks.

"It could be real serious," says Creighton. "Because anything that's running through is going to bounce because there's already a negative balance. If you can't put your money in the bank, where do you put it?"

By noon, bank officials had fixed the glitch and Creighton's account was back in the black.

RBC Bank CEO Scott Custer apologized for the inconvenience. A spokesman says customers will not have to pay for overdraft or NSF fees.
