The family of Somphane Souwankham is hoping no news is good news.

Souwankham went crabbing Monday and was supposed to come back around 3:00 p.m. But he never showed up.

Late Monday night, Souwankham's family found his 20-foot boat north of Fowl River on Gilliard Island with a crab trap and life jackets still on board.

Souwankham moved here from Minnesota six months ago with his wife and three boys. A family friend says they left Minnesota because of the cold. Souwankham loved the idea of coming to Alabama because he loved the freedom of being on the water.
