Boys & Girls Clubs Fight To Stay Open

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi says it needs to raise at least $500,000 over the next two months to keep three facilities open.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central
Mississippi says it needs to raise at least $500,000 over the next
two months to keep three facilities open.
The group operates six clubs, serving 3,200 children ages 6 to
18 with an annual budget of about $2.2 million. But officials say
three locations will close in May if the nonprofit isn't able to
secure more money. Two of those locations are in Jackson and one is
in Bolton.
The clubs have survived on fundraisers and contributions from
the government and various foundations. Billy Redd, president and
chief executive for the nonprofit, says the group needs broad-based
community support from individuals who can contribute in smaller
amounts.
