A long standing hotel in Downtown Mobile hopes to cash in on the Mardi Gras revelry by getting into real estate.
June Hope with Dauphin Realty says the owner of the Ramada Inn is converting the 131 room hotel into a condominium complex.
The 400 square foot studio style condos start at just under $80,000, but not everyone is thrilled about the idea. "It's free enterprise for everybody to come down here and get their own room, now it's just going to be limited you know. It's just not going to be the same,"Said Doug Hughes, a hotel guest.
"It seems that the extended stay Inns that are farther out get a huge amount of traffic and there are a lot of companies down in this part of town that could really benefit from it,"Said June Hope with Dauphin Realty.
The Ramada Inn will change its name to the Church Street Condos once 45 units are sold.
Dauphin Realty is holding an open house this Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
