Family Reaches Out For Help

A small, rural community in Washington County is rallying around the family of three children killed last week in a house fire.

Family members tell News Five there has been an outpouring of support for David and Virginia Nelson, and they need every bit of it.

The couple lost three of their children when a fire ripped through their home early Friday morning. Christy Nelson, 9, David Nelson, 11, and Colton Mosley, 11, were asleep upstairs when the fire started.

While nothing can bring the kids back, friends and family say the couple, who recently lost their home owner's insurance, now needs help rebuilding.

A fundraiser is scheduled for this Saturday at the home of Allen and Renee Nelson at 13785 John Johnston Road in Charity Chapel.

BBQ plates will be sold for $6, and donations are appreciated. There is also a Nelson Family Trust Fund set up at Regions Bank.
