The progressive nature of Parkinson's Disease can make walking a challenge. Now a new study is helping Parkinson's patients dance into a more mobile future.
Rush University Medical Center is studying the effect dance has on Parkinson's patients.
"It allows them to have a certain fluidity of their movements. Now we know that patients with Parkinson's need the movements, they need the space," said Dr. Rehabilitation Physician James Young.
Not only is balance better, but quality of life is, too.
"They're improving in balance, they're improving in their activities of daily living, and they're improving socially, excuse me, socially, and also in their attitudes towards their life," said Dr. Young.
