A Bear Of A Story!

What would you do if you walked outside your home to be greeted by a bear? That's exactly what happened to a man in Mary Esther, Florida. And, he's got the picture to prove it. Al Taylor says the bear showed up last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the bear has been roaming around in a neighborhood near the Santa Rosa Mall and he's been enjoying food from neighbors' trash cans. That's why they're asking neighbors to secure those trash cans, pet food, and bird feeders. Taylor says seeing the bear wasn't as scary as you might imagine, "it was so dark and I had just come out of the light so my eyes really weren't adjusted, in fact, I was looking down, you know, to see if it was a dog or a raccoon and that's when I saw the bear and he was hanging, looking in the trash can and I said to myself that's a bear," said Taylor. Wildlife officials believe the bear's home is at Eglin Air Force Base. Florida black bears are known to live in the large wooded area there. Officials hope the bear has returned home, but they've set a trap so they can get him out of the neighborhoods and relocate him.
