TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Charlie Crist has formed a working
group of top state officials to begin planning how Florida will use
its share of federal stimulus money.
The Republican governor met with the rest of the 16-member group
Monday. Officials told him that told transportation and
environmental agencies already have lists of projects that are
ready to begin.
They credited Crist's "Accelerate Florida" initiative to start
state-funded projects weeks or months early with getting them
prepared to quickly use the stimulus money.
The governor's office estimates Florida is in line for about $13
billion in stimulus money spread over three budget years.
