Between the long lines, packed parking lot and a flood of food traffic, it's hard to find relief in a sea of shoppers.
“Oh very hectic, lot of traffic and I'm trying to get back to Choctaw County,” says shopper Mitzi McGhee. She’s one of many people searching for some last minute gifts. Young Brittney Davis shops with her buddies from the Foley High School basketball team. She says it's a challenge finding the right gifts.
“Gifts for all my buddies, Christmas is coming around, Santa here,” says Davis. “Hopefully Santa got me something very nice but I'm looking for something to get my buddies.” Most of the shoppers I tagged along with today are split some say they're spending more others say they're cutting back.
“I guess because of the recession trying to spend a little bit less trying to focus on other things than spending,” says shopper David McFadden. For people on the opposite side of the counter, this weekend has to click if they're going to survive in retail.
“I just take my time and get to know the customer, relax and have fun,” says sales associate Bridget Seltzer. A Bel Air Mall manager says they probably had more than 45,000 shoppers today, 12/19/09. Another 30,000 are expected Sunday.
