The main beach in Gulf Shores attracts tens of thousands of visitors a year, but police say the public restrooms here are now attracting men interested in sexually deviant behavior.
"We're not going to tolerate it," says Lt. Dennis King with the Gulf Shores Police Dept.
Police arrested Brian Toscano and charged him with criminal surveillance. Toscano is accused of hiding inside a bathroom stall and spying on other men. Investigators found several peep holes in the wall. They say Toscano had other men with him acting as lookouts.
"It is a serious crime here in the tourist area and some of the public restrooms are venues where this type of activity takes place and we take it very seriously," says King.
King says this kind of activity used to be a problem several years ago, but says they've cleaned up the problem. Since Toscano's arrest, King says they are actively patrolling the beach and public restroom areas looking out for any suspicious activity.
