Families set to sail this afternoon are land locked tonight at hotels instead of cruising in their ship cabin.
The Carnival Fantasy couldn't return from its four day cruise that departed Thursday, and the five day cruise set to depart this afternoon for Cozumel will have to wait until tomorrow.
John Jurasinski drove to the Port City from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, "We left Baton Rouge in a fog, drove all the way in a fog, got here..off loaded luggage to find out the ship wasn't even in port yet. They told us to come over here to the civic center".
Diana Mullins and her family traveled more than 900 miles from Ohio. She says, "You gotta think about the safety of the people also. I know it's an inconvenience for everybody, but, then you've gotta remember that its for the safety of the people and if it's too foggy to bring the boat in there's nothing they can really do but, wait you know..unfortunately".
Carnival issued a statement saying it worked with Mobile area hotels for discounted room rates and is providing transportation to and from hotels.
The company says it will refund a portion of the cruise fare. Guests also have the option of canceling and receiving a future cruise credit for a five day voyage.
