Flooding Advisory Issued For Escambia River

Escambia FL EMA issues flood advisory for people living near the Escambia River.

The following is a press release from Escambia, Fl Emergency Management:

Advisory for residents living along and close to the Escambia River-

The Escambia River is already at flood stage (18 ½ feet) and the forecast indicates it will continue to rise to 24 feet over the next 36 hours. Some flooding of homes may occur. Residents living near and along the river should begin making preparations for their homes, personal property and families.

The following roads are closed:

1. Fannie Road*

2. O.C. Phillips between Pineville and Highway 97-A

3. Arthur Brown Road between Pineville and Highway 97-A

4. Jakes Road between Nokomis and Albritton. This is the unpaved portion of Jakes Road.

5. Barrineau Park Road between Highway 99 and the Alabama State line.

6. Greenland Road between Highway 97 and Hodges

7. Highway 29 at the Alabama State line. Traffic is being turned around at the Piggly Wiggly in Century.

Travel Advisory-

If you are trying to get to Interstate 65 from Pensacola, you will need to take Highway 29 North to Highway 97 (also known as the Atmore Cut-off) to Interstate 65. Once you cross into Alabama, Highway 97 will become Highway 21, but this will take you to Interstate 65.

Highway 29 remains closed at the Alabama state line in Century. As a result travelers are unable to reach Interstate 65 via Highway 31 and Highway 113.
