Times are tough. The economy has taken a dive and maybe your job went with it. If you're one of hundreds who have gotten behind on child support payments because of it, you've got a second chance to make things right.
Baldwin County District Attorney Judy Newcomb is offering amnesty through December 16th for those who have fallen on hard times and truly want to make it up to their children. She said her office has gotten a lot of calls from folks who lost their job or were faced with some other financial hardship.
To take part in the amnesty program, you have to call the D.A.'s office at 937-0253. Newcomb also reminds those who may have recently lost their jobs and owe child support, to call before you get behind in payments. This will help you work out a modification of your payments and avoid a warrant for arrest.
