A Mobile woman was bitten several times by a pit bull after she jumped in to help her teenage neighbor, who was being attacked.
Tessica Williams, 26, was throwing a birthday party for her five year old son when she saw the dog chasing down a 13 year old girl.
"This was sheer seconds," said Williams, describing why she ran to the girl's aid. "Nobody else was helping... Everybody was trying to run."
Williams' mom, Evelyn, said her daughter put herself between the dog and the teen and ended up being bit four times.
The attack happened Sunday afternoon on Steiner Street near Dauphin Island Parkway.
Williams and the teenager were treated for injuries at USA Children's and Women's Medical Center.
The dog's owner, who was cited for four violations, surrendered the pit bull to animal control officers. The director of the Mobile Animal Shelter says the dog will euthanized.
This is the 80th dog biting incident in Mobile this year. Eighteen of the attacks involved pit bulls, but Labrador Retrievers are the breed reported most for dog bites with 22 incidents.
