Banned In Bama Art Show

Banned In Bama Art Show

Some controversial cabernet inspires an art show in Mobile

A banned wine gets more special attention in Mobile. Koch Galleries in Mobile held a special "Banned in Bama Art Show" in honor of Cycles Gladiator wine on 8/30/2009. The California hooch was pulled from Alabama shelves because of its logo featuring a nude woman on a bicycle. The show featured paintings, original works and other pieces of art. Gallery manager Lars Britt says wine ban is just silly.

“I thought it was kind of ludicrous, anyone old enough to drink wine should be able to look at a turn of the century painting of a nude woman flying in the air by a bicycle,” says Lars Britt with the Koch Galleries. Britt says he had to stop at five different wine stores in Mississippi before he found a shop that carried the controversial cabernet.
