PRICHARD, Ala. (AP) - A Prichard councilman held a burglar at
gunpoint in a vacant school until police arrived to arrest the man.
Authorities said council president Napoleon Bracy had a pistol
tucked under the pant leg of his suit as he toured the vacant
Glendale Elementary School Friday. When Bracy and two others arrived
at the school, they found it had been gutted by thieves since its
closure a year ago.
Lou Principe, who was with Bracy, said they came across a man in
a hallway and Bracy pulled out his gun when the man ran at him.
Bracy said he then had Principe tie up 48-year-old Phillip Johnson
with wire that was sticking out of the wall.
Bracy said he called police, who charged Johnson with
third-degree burglary and possession of burglars tools.
