A small group in Bayou La Batre is using today's Katrina anniversary to raise awareness of unmet needs along the Gulf Coast. Members of the South Bay Community Alliance and Alabama Arise toured different spots in the bayou this morning, 08/29/2009. Organizers say they want to show what areas still need help and highlight some progress that's been made in the last four years. They say there are still a lot of unmet needs. Organizers say some need help with elevation and affordable housing.

“In regard to rebuilding assistance and that includes 289 homes that need elevation in the city of Bayou La Batre and the county of Mobile,” says Zack Carter with Alabama Arise. Carter says they're trying to help a Bayou La Batre woman who's still living in a FEMA trailer. The tour stopped in a total of three neighborhoods in south Mobile County. The video in this web story was shot with a story I did yesterday.
