A 19 year old car theft suspect is in jail after he lead police on a chase through a middle school campus.
Kenneth Brown ditched a stolen Chrysler on Booker T. Washington Middle School's track, then ran into the main building of the school through an unlocked door, according to a spokesperson for Mobile police.
The school's principal, Doug July, says a staff member helped chase the suspect out of the building, and the campus immediately went on lock down.
"I just want our parents to know that we took precaution to make sure their children were safe," said July.
Mobile police captured Brown within minutes, and the lock down was quickly lifted.
Investigators say they found marijuana and liquid codeine in the stolen car.
Brown is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
