Truck Crashes Off Overpass

There was a deadly traffic accident in Pensacola Tuesday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol says an 18-wheeler headed North on I-110 lost control and crashed from the overpass to the Davis Highway exit ramp below. The driver was killed. Hot tar that he was carrying spilled onto the ramp, but FHP says it was contained before it got into area waterways. We're told Good Samaritans tried to rescue the driver, but they couldn't save him, "it's my understanding that immediately after the crash that there were a couple of persons here that helped get the driver out of the wreckage or out of the area where he was ejected and there was also a local doctor that arrived on scene and they all administered first aid to him," said FHP Lt. Steve Preston. State Troopers haven't released the truck driver's name yet. The I-10 East Davis Highway exit ramp was closed for hours Tuesday, but it has reopened.
