The motorcade for a fallen hero roars through the heart of Bay Minette. It's a tribute to a young man who touched the heart of this community.

“He gave his life for this community and not everyone's willing to do that,” says Bernard White with the Disabled American Veterans of Bay Minette. Dozens lined the streets for the processional honoring Lance Corporal Bruce Ferrell Junior.

“He's a fine young man, was a fine young man had a lot of family and friends that loved him dearly, and he'll be dearly missed,” says family friend Mary Ellen McMillan. Several motor cycle groups also came to show their support for Ferrell and his family.

“He was just always happy and funny, that's what I want to remember about him,” says second cousin Joanette Wiggins. People gathered for the procession on Sunday, 8/16/2009, say it's important to honor soldiers like these.

“Well he gave his all and that's what gives people the freedom to live like they're living today,” says Bernard White. After the motorcade, people packed the Bay Minette Civic Center to pay their respects to the young marine and give their condolences to his family and friends. They say Bruce was the kind of son any family would want. Ferrell's funeral is tomorrow at 2 pm at the Bay Minette Civic Center. It will be open to the public.
