Parents looking to help their kids with math and reading have a new option. Owners cut the ribbon on a new Kumon Math and Reading Center on Old Shell Road in Mobile. Organizers say Kumon is the world's largest after school math and reading program. They say it's not just a tutoring service. It also helps children master problem solving skills.
“Once they master the concept, they move to the next concept, so it's basically building on concepts very small steps at a time and working diligently everyday,” says Center Director Sarah Bigazzi. She says they hope to enroll 50 children by the end of the year. She says Kumon works for students at any age and skill level.
