The body of a local marine will return home this weekend.
Lance Cpl. Bruce Ferrell Jr was killed by roadside bomb last Sunday near Kandahar, Afghanistan.
A plane carrying his body will arrive at Mobile Regional Airport on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and members of the Patriot Guard will escort the body back to Bay Minette.
Ferrell joined the Marines after graduating from Baldwin County High School in 2006. He had been overseas since May, serving a seven-month tour of duty. Before he left, Ferrell was engaged to be married.
A visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. at the Bay Minette Civic Center. The funeral is Monday at 2 p.m. at the Civic Center.
