If You Spot A Manatee...

Marine experts are in town for the next week. They're trying to learn more about the manatee!

The giant mammals are being spotted more and more in Alabama waters these days. They are usually found next door in Florida and experts want to know why they are heading west.

They have a paddle-like tail, two flippers and a cigar-shaped body. Marine Scientist Dr. Ruth Carmichael explains how you can spot a manatee. "You might just see something like a big fish splash, like a flat spot. If you're lucky, you'll see their snout stick up above the water."
