BREAKING NEWS
Former judge Herman Thomas has turned himself into Mobile Metro Jail, three days after he was indicted by a special Grand Jury.
The same special Grand Jury that indicted Thomas in March on charges that he sexually abused inmates at Mobile Metro Jail returned an additional 46 counts, involving 7 victims in a report filed Friday morning.
Thomas surrendered around 12:30 p.m. and was released about an hour later on his own recognizance.
Thomas, who retired from the Circuit Court bench in October 2007 amid allegations that he paddled inmates and forced them to perform sexual acts in exchange for leniency, pleaded not guilty earlier this year to 57 counts including kidnapping, extortion and sodomy.
There are now a total of 103 indictments against Thomas, involving 16 victims.
Thomas is scheduled to go to trial on the charges filed in March on October 5th.
