HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) - New York City police say they have located
the wreckage of a small plane that crashed into a helicopter and
went down in the Hudson River.
Chief police spokesman Paul Browne says the plane fuselage is
just north of the helicopter crash site in the water off of
Hoboken. It was detected with sonar scanner. More plane wreckage
was found farther out in the river under about 50 feet of water.
Nine people died in Saturday's collision, including three
members of a Pennsylvania family in the private plane. Five Italian
tourists and a pilot from New Jersey were in the helicopter.
Five of the nine bodies have been found so far.
It's the city's worst air disaster since a 2001 plane crash in
Queens killed 265 people.
