A little league team from Biloxi is in Waco, Texas trying to earn a trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania and the Little League World Series.
Biloxi is one of eight teams to qualify for the Southwest Regional.
They lost game one of pool play to Texas West this evening, 5-3. Biloxi gave up two solo home runs in the top of the fifth inning. Texas West pitcher Troy Matamayor closed the door on Biloxi's offense striking out seven of the final nine batters.
Biloxi must win Sunday afternoon against Oklahoma (0-1) and Monday afternoon against Louisiana (1-0) to advance to the championship round.
The team is coached by Scotty Berkowitz and George Johnson. Team members are Mason Berkowitz, Austin Creel, Eddie Rey Garza, Trent Gill, Blake Johnson, John Paul (J.P.) McLaughlin, Darrell Montiforte, Jordan Rackley, Tyler Roch, Jordan Roberts and Jack Schmidt.
