A flag that has flown over Ground Zero was flown to Pensacola Wednesday to honor two deputies killed in the line of duty.
The U.S. Honor Flag flew over the joint visitation for Okaloosa County deputies Skip York and Burt Lopez. They were killed Saturday while attempting to arrest a domestic violence suspect at the Shoal River Gun Club in Crestview.
The funeral service for Deputy Lopez is Thursday at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Crestview followed by his burial at Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
The funeral service for York will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach followed by his burial at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
The US Honor Flag has also flown over combat areas in Iraq and Afghanistan and police officer memorials across the country.
