Valeria Graciotti owns Gringa Latina in Robertsdale...a Western Union business that specializes in wiring money from Baldwin County to Mexico. Graciotti says local and national media attention about the "swine flu" has kept her busy. Customers are sending money to family members and friends back in Mexico for medical treatment.
"They're concerned about their parents and their family back home," says Graciotti.
Graciotti says she will pass out protective masks this weekend to customers and will require her employees to wear them.
Diana Martinez is originally from Mexico City. The Baldwin County woman says many stores there are sold out of masks.
"We're very concerned about their health," says Martinez. "We're making sure everyone's going to the doctor and getting a flu shot. We're sending them money."
Martinez says there are concerns here locally. She says she bought several masks at Wal-Mart this week.
